Thinking about Politics and Morality
You've read a lot this semester about morality and about politics. Drawing on everything you've read, how should we think about morality in the modern world? To put it another way, is virtue, as Aristotle conceived it, possible? Is Nietzsche's last human being inevitable? Is Tocqueville's soft despotism the fate of democracy? Feel free to draw on all of the material you have read this semester as you think through this question.
