Your task is to describe genetic algorithms, explain why genetic algorithms are useful in solving the problem you have been set and conduct an investigation into the optimum parameter settings to generate a solution. Specifically, you are to:
• write a 6000 word academic style paper on your topic that follows the guidelines provided;
• prepare a ten minute presentation that makes good use of visual aids to illustrate the methods and/or algorithms presented in the paper;
• include hard copies of the speaker's notes and slides utilised for your presentation with the submission;
• submit THREE hard-copies of your paper and an electronic version. (The electronic version will be submitted to an online service that checks work for plagiarism.)
Students are strongly encouraged to read the assessment guidelines provided and manage their approach accordingly.
