THREE-DAY DIET LOG ASSIGNMENT
Part One: Logging
You will examine your eating and drinking habits for three days. Try to select days that represent a typical day of eating and drinking for you.
In your log, you must identify the following.
- The caloric value of each food and drink you consume; and
- The macronutrient values of what you have consumed (in grams). Macronutrients are carbohydrates, fats, protein, and fibre.
The websites (linked below) are great resources to use for this assignment. You may also use an app or other method of calculating your caloric intake that works well for you.
You should use a chart to log your eating and drinking. You may create one similar to the charts found below in the exemplar section, or you may design one that better suits your learning style.
Part Two: Analysis
1. Based on your three-day diet log, does your diet meet the requirements established in Canada's food guide and the nutrition-related issues that affect your lifespan group. How could you adjust your diet to ensure you are meeting the minimum serving requirements from Canada's food guide and recommended daily intakes based on the percent daily values (% DV).
2. Identify strategies you could take to correct any excesses or deficiencies in the following areas:
- Energy (caloric) intake
- Macronutrient intake
- fibre intake
- Vitamin intake
- Mineral intake
