You ore sitting in the Student Center talking with a student you have just met for the first time, who majoring in Business Administration (and who decided not to take 1NMGT 400). This student says to you, 1 just don't get it. Maslow's motivational theory clearly explains that security is the second most basic motivational driver, and I ask you, what provides a sense of security more than a big paycheck? But this Herzberg guy says that wages and pay are de-motivators. How can I ever become an effective manager if they won't let me use financial incentives to motivate and retain my workers?"
