You are asked to share a snapshot of an older person (>65 years old). This may be a person within your local community, a family friend or relative. The aim of this presentation is to identify diversity from social and cultural perspectives and to share these differences in a collaborative manner during weekly tutorials. You will be allocated a tutorial week in which to deliver a short prepared presentation. This short presentation will require an introduction, body and a conclusion and will give you an opportunity to practice your public speaking skills.
These presentations should enhance your learning by bringing the varied life experiences of older persons into the classroom, highlighting the contribution they make to their families, friends and the community. You are encouraged to be creative and use various forms of media in your presentation.
In completing the reflection framework you are to reflect on your conversation with the older person, addressing the most interesting aspects for you, how this experience has changed the way you think about older people and how it may influence your nursing practice.
