This assignment will assess your ability to prepare the most important components of your career portfolio. You will apply the knowledge that you have learned to prepare a tailored résumé for a specific job posting, write a cover letter and a thank-you letter, design your business card, and develop your LinkedIn profile. Preparing a professional portfolio is necessary for successful job searching in Canada; therefore, you should get yourself ready before graduation.
Task
Select a job title in supply chain management that you want to apply for in Canada.
1. Find and review a job posting on Indeed or any other job searching platform related to the selected job title.
2. Write your résumé following the principles discussed in class.
3. Try to include some keywords from the job posting in your résumé.
4. If you have no work experience, include internships or projects that you have completed.
5. If you have not completed any internships or projects, write a note to inform your instructor of this when you submit the assignment on Brightspace.
6. Write a cover letter to support your application for the job.
7. Imagine that you have had an interview with an employer for that job, write a thank-you letter to the interviewer.
8. Create a professional business card.
9. In case you are not working at the moment, create a networking card instead of a business card.
10. Develop a new LinkedIn profile or upgrade your current one to look fit for the jobs in your field.
11. However, do not include the degrees, experience, or skills that you do not have in your profile.
12. Proofread all documents in your career portfolio and your LinkedIn profile.
