Consider the order from sun and distance from sun of the 9 planets and asteroid belt (distance scaled so that earth's distance is 10)as below:
(a) Fit the mean log distance as a function of order from the sun. Obtain the least squares estimates of slope and intercept. Write the fitted regression equation.
(c) Construct a 95% confidence interval for the slope of the regression line equation in (a). Interpret the estimates of slope in terms of distance (instead of log(distance)).
(d) Construct a 95% prediction interval for the distance of a planet with order of 6.
(e) Obtain the residuals.
(f) Use the residuals in(c) to compute the estimate of the a. Show the computation. Notice that mean square error is the sum of squares of residuals.
