Also there are other complications that can come from fasting for too long, labor can take hours and it is expected for women to not have anything to eat within that time of labor. McClave & Marsano-Obando,(2022), states that prolonged fasting prior to the procedure or surgical operation can lead to volume depletion, dehydration, hypoglycemia, and even an impaired muscle function, patient anxiety may be increased, and cooperation deteriorates.
