Annotated Bibliography:
Paper details
I just had you write a Background paper for me. I am attaching it for you. This present order is a pre-writing assignment, to the annotated bibliography that will be due (that I am ordering as well separately and after this), based on the background paper that was previously written.
From my Professor: For this assignment, I am interested in your assessment of the quality of your sources. Choose one of your scholarly sources intended for your Scholarly Source Annotated Bibliography assignment, based on your background paper. Read it carefully, and complete the following questions:
1. Write out a bibliographic citation for the source, in either MLA or APA style. Identify the citation style you used, and describe the type of source (i.e. “It’s a chapter from a book,” or “It’s an article from a peer reviewed journal”). Please note that you are required to use a scholarly source for this assignment.
What academic discipline (i.e. political science, economics, psychology, etc) does this author represent? How can you tell? What will this particular perspective add to your understanding of the subject?
2. Does the author seem to be an expert? Do you find the material credible? Write a brief statement intended to convince me, your writing teacher, that you’ve selected a useful source for your project. Provide several reasons. (This is about the credibility of your source, but I am also interested in whether or not you can write with audience awareness).
3. What seems to be the most significant idea, concept, or data that this author contributes to the larger conversation about the topic in question? What questions does it raise for you?
4. Identify 2-3 important points the author makes that you personally find compelling (you might be compelled to agree or disagree). Locate specific quotes for each important point, and write a quote sandwich.
5. Has this article influenced you to form or change your perspective on something? Explain.
