The diabetes food pyramid divides food into six groups. These groups vary with each other on the basis of si-e occupied in the pyramid. The largest i.e. grains, beans and starchy vegetables is on the bottom. It means patient should eat more of this. The smallest group is fat, sweets and alcohol at the top of pyramid, which means the patient should have less from this group. The six groups of diabetes food pyramid are:
a) Grains, beans and starchy vegetable (largest group)
b) Vegetables
c) Fruits
d) Milk
e) Meat, meat substitutes and protein
f) Fat, oils and sweets (smallest group).
