Assignment task:
The research topic I've chosen is the impact of social media on children. Now that technology is a significant part of the K-12 curriculum, computers, phones, and tablets are necessary for children attending school in America. Although most devices used on institutional grounds are safe for web browsing, one may question who monitors the phones and laptops used at home. Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook are easily accessible to young children who can access the internet, allowing many outside influences to alter their cognitive development. Social media trends and challenges viewed by millions both young and old, have no age limit surrounding them, and children as young as ten have fallen victim to life-threatening scenarios.
The philosophical orientation that reflects my worldview is relativism. Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) posited that reality, or the external world, is shaped by our experiences defining individual and unique worldviews. The Epistemological perspective of this orientation focuses on the impact of social media on children's knowledge, beliefs, and understanding of the world. It may consider how exposure to information on social media shapes children's perspectives and influences their cognitive development.
According to (Burkholder, et al., 2020) relativist position posits that meaning and knowledge are constructed through the interactions of individuals, and it is through these interactions that shared meanings and truths are cocreated (Ponterotto, 2005).
Respond and share an insight using credible peer review.
