The case study:Jimmy, a 17 years old student studying mechanical engineering in university. In October 2012, Jimmy suddenly saw a painless expansion in his left testes but at that point ignores it. Later (about two and a half months) he sensed a pain on this testis. As a natural tendency he took some painkillers to get rid of it. But as the pain persisted Jimmy has to go to doctor after which he had to undergo a big number of medical tests after which after which it was seen that the cancer is already into his lymph nodes. Jimmy had a surgery and then chemotherapy as a treatment for the cancer, which is in its second stage. Chemotherapy actually resulted in a lot of pain and several side effects for Jimmy for which he had to miss school for almost 3 months. All these put Jimmy into a emotionally stressful situations he withdrew from social life but finally he started school to meet the gaps that was made during the treatment time. For young men between 15-25 years, treatment process of testicular cancer involves mental, emotional and psychological effects (Whiteford & Wordley, 2013). These effects will be discussed in the following sections later with respect to Jimmy and above discussions.
