Mission: Take a side and argue about a social science issue that concerns you.
The world is yours: Write about a current social science issue. This issue could be local, national, or global. Just make sure the issue is current: off shore drilling, capital punishment, gay rights, marijuana legalization, universal healthcare, 2nd amendment rights, the mass media;

Goal: The goal here is to persuade us of your opinion. Make sure you take a side. This is your chance to speak from the heart for the world to hear. This is your chance to use writing as a megaphone and scream about an injustice or opinion you feel strongly about.
Audience: The world. Write this letter as if you were talking to the community at large.
Write in a third person point of view. This assignment is also designed to strengthen your ability to use your own voice, but more formally. Be honest and clear. Keep it tight & direct.

2. This assignment needs to be exactly one page long. This is a requirement. When I say exactly one page, I mean it. The purpose of this requirement is for you to think about revision and to see if you can follow directions. Again, the last word should end at the end of the page. Just like this.
