Imagine that a natural disaster is occurring -- think of something like Hurricane Irene with its flooding, power outages, etc. You and your family are forced to leave your home for at least a few days. You don't really know when you will be able to come back. And there's also the possibility that there won't be a house to come back to.
You've packed your car with all the four-legged and two-legged beings in your home. You've got your money, your electronics, your important papers; you're all crammed in and ready to leave. As a matter of fact, you have to go. Time is running short.
But wait. You've forgotten something. It's important. You have to have it. And surely you can find a space in the car to stuff it in.
You run back to the house for it.
