• Highlight the ten values that are most important to you.
• Cross out the ten values that are least important to you.
• Place your top ten most important and least important values in the table below, in rank order from greatest importance (1) to least importance (10).
Personal Audit
Pick one day this week to "audit" your own behavior. From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., complete the log below showing how you spend your time in 30 minute increments.
Be honest (e.g., Are you truly studying or are you watching TV with the textbook open in front of you?). Write down what you are doing on a half-hour basis in the Personal Audit form attached. A common mistake is to wait until the end of the day to fill out the form; you should keep the form with you and log your activities as the time passes.
Connect and Reflect
Review your personal audit. Answer the following questions in a paragraph.
1. How does your personal audit demonstrate that you spent your time, focus and energy?
2. Are you currently spending your time in ways that reflect your values and emphasize the priorities in your life? Explain.
3. What is one thing that you could have done on that day to more closely live according to your values?
Tell a Story
Write a true story of a time in which you demonstrated or lived according to one of your top ten values. Make sure your story is memorable and described vividly. Think of a clever title for the story that will capture your reader's attention and help your reader to remember it. Write your story below. Do not exceed the space provided.
