The guide-line is below:
Allegory: a narrative that serves as an extended metaphor. Allegories are written in the form of fables, parables, poems, stories, and almost any other style or genre. The main purpose of an allegory is to tell a story that has characters, a setting, as well as other types of symbols, which have both literal and figurative meanings.
1. Please write a one-paragraph (complete, coherent and organized paragraph) explanation of how you reacted to this reading. Did you like it? Did you find it hard? Was it easy? Why did you like or dislike it? Be specific, please. Use one or two quotes or paraphrases from the text to explain your reaction.
2. According to the definition of allegory, it should have a literal meaning. Write a one-paragraph summary of what happened in the story - pretend a friend who has not read it asked you to tell them what it was about. Summarize the story for them.
3. According to the definition of allegory, it should also have a figurative meaning. This suggests that the story means more than what appears on the page, that there is a deeper, more symbolic meaning to the piece. Take at least one paragraph to explain what you think the figurative meaning of this allegory is. What was Plato trying to explore here? What is he saying about his theme? Use a few quotes and paraphrases to support your explanation.
