Peter is the manager of the Greenways waste management company. Together with his team he provide a range of business and residential waste management services including collection, recycling, and skip hire. Peter recently held a meeting with stakeholders of the Greenways company and the decision was made to develop and implement a new sustainability policy. The aims of this policy include highlighting the commitment to the environment and promoting a general sustainability agenda.
• Principles outlined in the Greenways sustainability policy include:
1. Ensuring compliance and exceeding all relevant legislation where practicable
2. Account for sustainability considerations with regards to business decisions
3. Ensuring staff awareness and commitment to implementation of the policy
4. Minimising the environmental impact of waste management activities.
• Sustainability practices outlined within the policy include:
1. Making use of eco-friendly transport methods
2. Using an emissions recording scheme to measure the impact of business travel
3. Recycling business materials where practicable
4. Engaging in voluntary work and making contributions to the community.
