Assignment: Method & Philosophy Contrast

Locate two advertisements for automobiles. One must be from the 1950s or 1960s and one from within the last two years. It is recommended that both ads are from the same manufacturer to eliminate the need to account for philosophic differences between companies.

Write a paper (1,250 to 1,500 words) in which you contrast the two advertisements noting the differences in method and philosophy between them. Include the following in your paper:

o An identification of the advertisements used. Include links to the ads or electronic copies of the print ads as well as the date of each ad.

o A discussion of the marketing strategies used in each advertisement. Does the company use mass marking or demographic-specific marketing? How do you know?

o A discussion of the marketing philosophy inferred from each advertisement.

o A discussion of the differences in method and philosophy between the two ads.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

o The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.

o The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
