Refereed journal articles are probably the major source of academic knowledge. But no article produces the ultimate-truth? of phenomenon/phenomena in question.
Indeed, an article-a text-is, from a Barthian viewpoint, is a multidimensional space in which a variety of writings, none of them original, blend and clash? (Barthes 1977, p. 146). This nature of a research articleencourages the reader not only read, but also re-read the article: the role of a -critical reader?.
As such,in this individual assignment you are required to write a Critical Essay based on your critical engagement with an article, which is published in a refereed (preferably indexed) journalduring 2013 and 2018, on the broad area/s of one of the lesson topics.
A carefully articulated essay generally consists of following features:
- A suitable title
- Introduction, including the rationale of selecting the article (200-300 words)
- Summary of the article (700-1000 words)
- Critical analysis of the article supported by relevant theories, literature etc. (1500- 2000 words)
- Conclusion (200-300 words)
- References (at least five journal articles and other reliable sources, such as book chapters. The Web materials are not encouraged) The
Essay should be a -readable? one and should demonstrate your scholarship. It is due on the day of the 5th Seminar and should not exceed 3000 words excluding references.
