Write a 3-4 paragraph autobiography about yourself. Tell us a bit about who you are, why you're taking this class, what you're major is, what you do for a living, and anything else you'd like to inform your classmates about who you are. Feel free to mention any high school, college or professional experience you have had with the media, if applicable.
In addition, write another 5-6 paragraphs about your relationship with each of the eight types of mass media we are studying in our class this semester: books, newspapers, magazines, radio, music, movies, TV, the Internet. Please write about your background with each of these media, your experiences and habits with each of them, which ones you like and dislike, and how your media habits have changed over your lifetime. Because we don't actually "see" each other, this assignment is a good way to get to know a bit about one another as the class begins this first week.
NOTE: You might want to produce your essay in a word processing program (such as Microsoft Word) so that you can proofread it and spell check it for accuracy. Points WILL ALWAYS be deducted for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
