Application: Service Team Roles
Every client requires a treatment program tailored to meet his or her unique needs. For example, Jorge is starting treatment for addiction to several substances. When he was using drugs, he shared needles, which exposed him to HIV, the virus that can cause AIDS. Jorge has tested positive for the HIV virus. His case manager recognizes that Jorge requires medical care for HIV, substance abuse treatment, and possibly social services and psychotherapy.
If you were to design a treatment program, you would consider the various case management models. You would evaluate how well each one meets the goals of your program. Regardless of the model that you chose, you would rely on a team of professionals to provide effective client services. Selecting the team of professionals will depend on which services are required. This, in turn, will depend on your program's mission and goals, as well as its funding and client population. This team of professionals is the service team, also referred to as the treatment team.
To prepare for this Assignment, review your Learning Resources and consider the different roles and responsibilities of various professions within the service team model. Think of the professionals you need to include in your program. Find one scholarly source to use in your paper in addition to the Learning Resources. You can use the search terms "roles of service team in addiction" and "roles of treatment team in addiction."
