Would aversion to yogurt be respondent or operant

Assignment task: Here is an example scenario that is often debated as respondent or operant conditioning:

Douglas ate yogurt and felt ill shortly after eating it. He now has aversion to yogurt avoids eating it. Is that an example of respondent or operant conditioning?

Let's say Douglas was sick with a stomach virus. Douglas may or may not have known that he was sick when he ate yogurt one afternoon. Douglas felt terrible after he ate the yogurt (due to a stomach virus) and now he associates the sight of yogurt with feeling sick. The US (virus) actually made Douglas sick (UR) but now the yogurt is a CS for the CR of feeling nauseous when he sees it.

If, however, Douglas ate the yogurt and the yogurt was sour and caused the illness, would his aversion to yogurt be respondent or operant conditioning?

Douglas need not be aware or "know" that he had a stomach virus to have his behavior changed. The unconditioned stimuli and responses worked with his phylogeny to avoid possibly eating deadly things.

Please describe your answers and know that this point can be debated either way.
