With respect to several disorders, we have discussed the fact that a genetic vulnerability may exist, and whether or not the actual diagnosable disorder appears is determined by in what type of environment the person with the genetic risk was raised. Be prepared to discuss this interaction for anxiety disorder, depression, schizophrenia, and psychopathy (any one might be asked). In each case, explain what the nature of the genetic vulnerability is, what sort of environment would most promote the expression of the vulnerability in the form of a fully-developed disorder, and what environment would most strengthen a vulnerable person against the disorder.
