5H2C2O4 + 2 KMnO4 + H2SO4 ---> 10 CO2 + K2SO4 + 2MnSO4 + 8H20
If 100 g of H2C2O4 is reacted with 50g KMnO4 how many g of CO2 are produced if a 70 % yield is obtained?
Okay, so for each 100g of H2C2O4 and 50g KMnO4 I did the work to see how much CO2 is produced...for 100g of H2C2O4 my answer was 97.77g CO2 and for 50g KMnO4 my answer was 69.62g CO2.
With 69.62g CO2 being produced compared to 97.77g CO2 being produced this would therefore make KMnO4 the limiting reactant and making H2C2O4 would be the reactant in excess
Therefore at a 70% yield the amount of CO2 produced would be 48.73g of CO2.
