Assignment Task:
Mr. Turner has been taking the 2-drug combination for 6 months now. His A1C has actually increased to 7.8%, and he is beginning to have some peripheral neuropathy. You have ruled out other causes for Mr. Turner's increasing A1C including medication noncompliance. Mr. Turner is still adamant against trying any of the newer antidiabetic drugs, but is willing to consider insulin. Mr. Turner states "I thought insulin was only for Type 1 diabetics. You told me I have Type 2 diabetes. Do I have Type 1 diabetes now? Will I have to take the insulin forever?"
