The American Revolution is celebrated by many across the world as the birth of democracy in the Western Hemisphere. Yet some scholars argue that it did little to change the status quo in America. What defines a "revolution"? In terms of liberty, was the American Revolution revolutionary? Why or why not? If so, for whom? How, if at all, was liberty still limited?
