Tell your younger self why it is important to listen to the tale "la ciguapa" and the importance of cautionary tales now that you understand it in the present.
Also, argue against this and convince your past self of why this tale shouldn't be taken so seriously. Before either one, understand your family or society's reason for telling you that tale, what it meant to them, and what it means to you.
