Question One: Look at the explanations why the police arrest some groups more than others. Which seems to have the most evidence to support it? What is that evidence? Are race relations getting better in the United States today or worse?
Question Two: Are minorities detained simply because they are minorities? Why or why not? Is "Driving while black" an issue? Have you or any of your friends been subjected to "Driving while black?" Are racial profiling laws really needed? Can legislation fix racism?
Question Three: Is the criminal justice system racist, or are we dealing with a few individual racist who happen to work in the system? Explain your answer.
Question Four: What role, if any, does gender play in criminal cases? Do you believe that women are treated differently than men? Why does disparate treatment exist, if it does at all? Research some examples of school teachers convicted of having sex with a student. Is there a variation in sentencing regarding male and female offenders? Should there be a variation?
Question Five: What impact will hiring more women and minorities throughout the criminal justice system have on attitudes of racism and actions of racial discrimination? Female and minority recruitment are a problem for the criminal justice system. Can you suggest any strategies to get more female and minority members to apply for positions in the criminal Justice system?
