Problem:
As a public citizen there are some concerns that come to mind when it comes to convicted felons being involved in community-based sanctions. In the community is where our family and loved ones live on a day-to-day basis. Convicted felons were taken away from living day to day with citizens because of there crimes. The main goal of corrections is rehabilitation, this gives the convict a chance to give back to the community in which he/she wronged while also giving them a chance to avoid jail or prison terms. I also have faith in the justice system to do a good enough job before allowing violent criminals back in the community putting the public at risk. Share your personal thoughts on whether community-based corrections jeopardizes the safety and security of the general public. If you are in favor of community-based corrections, would you object to a felon living next door to you? If not, what alternatives would you suggest to facilitate reintegration?
