Liberation ideologies are frequently based upon the principle that group differences are meaningful. Does this make liberation ideology incompatible, or at least, in tension with liberalism? Are policy goals related to rights or protections for minority or disadvantaged groups (such as language rights or religious exemptions) inconsistent with liberal principles of universal equality?
