Response to the following :
Examine the main reasons why people are attracted to urban areas in the developing world, and select the key issues that make this rural to urban migration such a difficult problem for governments to deal with.
If one were to put in a simple couple of lines why cities attract, different people would answer differently.
And yet here was I find attractive about cities from the rural dwellers perspective:
- Jobs that put food on the table
- Cities hold some promise. This one often unjustified because it never materializes for many
- Folks escape rural areas for cities. They escape a bad unsustainable environment.
The latter does mean that they like cities.
They dislike their poverty with no end in sight a hope that cities will deliver.
More often then not cities do not deliver...in LDCs
