Jim Perdue, Chairman of Perdue Farms, has elected to promote Randy Day from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive officer (2017). Perdue Farms is vertically integrated from the feed in the Agricultural business to Chickens and is the third largest provider of Broiler Chickens in the country. In the process, he has asked Randy to have each of our teams consider the purchase back to the U.S. of our case study's industry, sold to the Chinese, of the former Smithfield Pork industry. Decide and present a clear position on 'why' or 'why not' accomplish this at the current time. Randy's thinking is that as the pandemic lifts and the economy begins to restart, it might be helpful to integrate more horizontally with the procurement of the former Smithfield Pork; and, consequently, maintain or even grow Perdue Farm's business base in the U.S."
