Why it is important for psychologists to study gender

Assignment task:

Please consider the following prompt and craft a response that sufficiently captures all aspects of it from your unique point of view and original research. Please cite and reference any source(s) you use to help write this response in APA format. Notice that in addition to your Main Entry post, you will need to offer two substantive classmate response posts to complete this exercise. See below instructions that will guide your peer engagement thinking/posting. See syllabus or course calendar for due dates for both Main Entry posts and peer engagement.

Main Entry (Parts 1 & 2):

Part 1: After reviewing your Unit 1 Learning Resources, post a brief analysis of what you learned. Include at least 2 takeaways about gender and psychological research in your response. What does this information tell us about why it is important for psychologists to study gender? How does this information apply in your own experience? Remember to cite the source of your information and reference it at the end of your post as well.

Part 2: Think about what you learned about gender-biased language in research and then locate a peer-reviewed psychology journal article that explores gender from the UMGC Library or Google Scholar. Examples of gender-related psychology journals include The Psychology of Women Quarterly, Psychology of Men & Masculinities, and Journal of Research in Gender Studies. As you prepare to respond, review the Recommendations to Avoid Gender Biased Language in Research reading, and then prepare your response to the following questions:

a. Discuss your reasons for selecting the article. (What about the topic interests you?) Do you think the research in your selected article avoids gender-biased language? Why or why not? In your reflection be specific about 1 of the recommendations for avoiding gender-biased language in research.

b. Include an APA Style reference for the article you selected with an active hyperlink so that your classmates and professor can access it.
