Network Discussion Questions
Chapter 4 digs deep into the basic fundamentals you need to understand when examining the inner workings of a network architecture. Routers are the backbone of any network, and they help interconnect networks all around the world. They function at the network layer of the OSI model because they make forwarding decisions based on packets that contain IP addresses oppose to switches that forward based on frames. We have come a long way now, and we have switches that can now move the same packets as a router on the network layer of the OSI model. However, routers remain in demand because they accommodate in my opinion more integration.
All, research layer three switches and routers further. Why is it important to have a mixture of both devices to achieve an organizations routing and switching goals?
