An element is diamagnetic if it has no unpaired electrons. Anelement is paramagnetic if it has unpaired electrons. If sulfur has unpaired electrons in the last p orbital (1s22s2 2p6 3s2 3p4), why is it diamagnetic instead of paramagnetic?
