Why healthcare industry is slow to begin data clearinghouses

Problem: Respond to post below with in-text citations and references

The healthcare industry is slow to begin data clearinghouses due to the sensitivity of the data collected. Most data collected is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The HIPAA act was put in place to protect sensitive patient information from being used without patient consent. In the beginning, this act seemed to slow down the dissemination of information, but now, many things have been worked out. However, there still remains a slow collection and dissemination of data, as one article lists five big reasons such as much of the data is listed in multiple places, it is structured and unstructured, it has inconsistent and variable definitions, the data is extremely complex, and constant changing of regulations (Lesueur, 2023). In order to remedy this issue, I would recommend 2 main things: one, set standard rules on what can be used; then two, categorize data into specific fields. As it stands, supercomputers are already being created to sift through large amounts of data and this would be of great help for the medical industry
