With approximately $11.6 thousand spent per person and a total healthcare expenditure of $3.8 trillion, healthcare will account for nearly 18% of the US Gross Domestic Product in 2020. Due to a growing federal deficit, hospitals and physicians are expected to receive fewer reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid. Legislative changes will reduce federal hospital reimbursements by $253 billion by 2029.
