Problem
In this CGI Section (Please do NOT choose a film from the other page, the 70's Experimental Animation Section), we viewed several examples of animation being used as a special effect in a film. Choose one of the following movies that we viewed clips from:
a) Vertigo
b) Star Wars: A New Hope
c) Westworld
d) Tron
e) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
And answer BOTH of the following questions:
a) In the film you chose, why do you think the director chose to use animation for the clip of it that we watched on the last page? How does the animation make possible something that would have been impossible or very difficult in traditional live action?
b) Could the clip you chose be made with another type of animation process, or do you think it needs to be CGI in order to look believable and fit into the film?
