1. Why do you think parties sometimes aren't willing to use these (not too difficult!) suggestions to evaluate and prioritize alternatives? Is it because they don't want an agreement at all? Or because they don't want an agreement that requires any compromise on their part?
2. Have you ever met someone (or been involved in a negotiation) where the other party behaved in this "no compromise" fashion? Is there any way to "sweeten" alternatives for such a party? (Answer based on your personal experience).
