why do cells of the nephron tubules present a

Why do cells of the nephron tubules present a great amount of mitochondria?

The cells of the tubule wall have high number of mitochondria because lots of substances are resorbed or secreted by them by means of active transport (a process that spends energy). Thus many mitochondria are essential for the energetic supply (ATP supply) of this type of transport.
