Written Response Questions:
Pick one of the three options below. Prepare a classical five paragraph essay that is written in a clear and explicit manner (Introduction with a thesis statement and topic sentence. Supporting points, analysis and conclusion). The purpose of this portion is to evaluate how well you can organize, understand, develop, and synthesize and apply the lectures and reading materials in a thoughtful and sophisticated manner.
Elaborate on your ideas don't just list them. This should be in essay format.
Essay Response Options:
1) Why is it difficult to create a science of comparative politics? Look at the limitations and is it possible to overcome these limitations?
2) Based on the definition of a modern democratic regime in the textbook, is a presidential system more democratic than a parliamentary system? Why or why not? Provide real life examples to support your argument.
3) What tools do states use in regulating trade with other states? What political-economic systems are most and least likely to impose strict regulations on trade? (The state in this question is not California, New York or Texas. It is in reference to the state used in chapter 2.)
