Problem
Why did the League of Nations fail? Europe didn't want to have an international governing body meddling in its affairs and didn't trust anything the US was promoting. US tendency towards isolation, and belief that membership in the world peacekeeping organization would threaten the political freedom of the United States by binding the nation to international commitments it would not or could not keep. Although Wilson wanted the League of Nations, his mind was changed when a meeting of the Allied Powers resulted in Europe abandoning the idea altogether. Wilson decided that having an international security system to prevent war was useless.
