Problem
i. Why did government officials think it important to educate native children in the practices of the dominant culture?
ii. Does the experience of these Native American families bear any similarities to globalization of culture going on today? Why or why not?
iii. To varying degrees, the governments and courts of the U.S., Canada, and Australia have recognized and apologized for the ill treatment of native peoples, including the residential schools. Do you think this is enough? Why or why not? What more may need to be done?
