Why abe approach is extremely important


Problem:

The ABE approach is extremely important in making sure all children feel included, heard, and respected. This approach strives for educators to critically think about what they are teaching, and I love the idea of this. Although certain holidays are exciting and something to look forward for some children and families, we tend to forget about those who do not celebrate due to different reasons. More often than not, educators forget to not misinform or stereotype because certain ideas are so normalized now. However, this is not done on purpose which is why the ABE approach is vital in supporting children and their families as they develop a sense of personal and group identity within a multicultural society. Other than thanksgiving, there are a couple more holidays that may pose the same issue or the idea of it. These holidays include Columbus Day and Cinco de Mayo. Columbus Day used to be honored years ago and many kids would even get the day off of school until many started the controversy behind the day.
