Objective To gain a better understanding of leadership traits and behavior The primary AACSB learning standard skill developed through this exercise is analytic skills. Preparing for Skill-Development Exercise 2 Read and understand the trait and behavioral leadership theories. On the following lines, list specific traits and behaviors that you believe effective leaders have or should have. Your answers may or may not be based on your observation of successful leaders. Option 1 (5-15 minutes) Students give their answers to the instructor, who writes them on the board under the heading of Traits or Behaviors. During or after the answers are listed, the class may discuss them.
Option 2 (10-20 minutes) Break into groups of five or six, and select a leader to perform the spokesperson role (remember, this is a leadership class). The spokesperson records the answers of the group, then writes them on the board (5-10 minutes). The instructor leads a class discussion (5-10 minutes).
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
