Problem
In Mark chapter 7 Jesus encounters a number of people who were considered "unclean" in Jewish society of his time: a Syrophoenician woman, a deaf and mute man, and even his own disciples. What was the meaning of uncleanness that linked the disabled, Gentiles, and unwashed hands? Evaluate a situation in Mark 7 where Jesus challenges that definition. Who might be considered unclean in our society today, and what might a Christlike response to them be?
