Who is representing each side what are each sides interests

Current Negotiation Event

Instructions:

Post the information of your main article and the supporting articles (source of article i.e New York Times ,date, page, author ) and give a one or two line description so your classmates understand the topic and they choose something different.

Criteria:

Pick an article that represents a negotiation that transpired within the last 12 months (this is the criteria for "current") If the topic of discussion is already on the board- PICK A NEW TOPIC. A different article on the same topic does not constitute different topic. Be able to provide background to the negotiation- we haven't read your article so it is important from a learning perspective that we understand what brought them to the table.

Questions to consider:

Who is representing each side? What are each sides interests? What is their BATNA? If the negotiation reached a conclusion did it resolve the conflict? What strategy did they use and was it successful. Did they use objective criteria? What was the basis for the agreement if not objective criteria?

Prepare a power point slide with the highlights of the negotiation (the answers to the questions above) to use as a guide for your presentation and to be sure you hit on all the points. The presentation time should be approx. 5 minutes- 2 to 3 minutes to give us background and 2 or 3 minutes to debrief the high points of the negotiation from your power point slide.
