Planning: The Foundation of Successful Management
Goals Planning
Today's global environment is highly competitive and extremely dynamic and organizations must make sure they plan accordingly. However, the characteristic I find most difficult is for the goal to not only be challenging but attainable. According to this week's readings, planning involves defining the organization's goals, establishing an overall strategy for achieving these goals, and developing plans for organizational work activities (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). Plans are critical in giving a company direction, improving efficiency, reducing waste, lowering uncertainty, and setting up goals that managers can later use in their controlling function.
Who in the company is involved in the strategic planning effort? Is it just executives? Or are some line workers involved?
