However, educators' diversity could not keep up, as the 2021 Census data pointed out that minorities only represent 4% of mathematics professionals. Despite schools claiming to teach the subject in a "race-neutral" manner, the lack of a diverse teacher workforce compared to the rich diversity of students in public school classrooms fosters the neglect of students' complex identities, experiences, and educational needs. It normalizes their absence by marginalizing students of other backgrounds who do not come from a traditional Eurocentric education system through cultural exclusion-causing them to feel underrepresented and falling behind due to struggling with education adaptations, such as economic variations, stereotypes, and cultural experiences
