To measure the concentration of benzene in a gasoline sample the internal standard toluene is added to the sample. While benzene and toluene are at the smeconcentration te gas chromatogram produces a peak height for benzene that is 3.74 times greater than that of toluene. For this analysis 7 ml of gasoline is mixed with 1.55 ml of solution containing 89 mg of toluene. While analyzed by gas chromatography the peak areas for benzene as well as toluene are 6382 and 4793 respectively. Find out how many milligrams of benzene are in the initial 7 ml of gasoline.
If someone can give a little insight on how to start this or what I would need to do to solve it.
